I started working on a new project during this residency that was inspired by the ampitheatre situated among the ancient ruins of Pompeii. One of the purposes the Romans conceived for the stadium was the staging of violence for recreation and entertainment. As part of my research, I did a performance that took place in a small scale reproduction I made of the structure. I wanted to relate my personal experience of violent mob culture to historical events. This space allowed me to put my past and present selves into a conversation, triggering reflections on violence and conformity on both a private and public level.
