Korean multimedia and performance artist Suki Seokyeong Kang creates woven 'paintings' that are inspired by the chunaengmu, a Korean court dance performed by a woman on a reed mat. Kang commissions craftswomen to make handwoven mats with centuries-old techniques in patterns of her own design. She then incorporates these weavings into her artworks and performances. Kang has been selected as the 2020 Sarah Lee Elson International Artist-in-Residence at Princeton University Art Museum.
